230 miles after head gasket fix, my Volvo meets a pothole DC roads with mountains and vallys and is on a flat bed once again...

Electrics went to shit because I hit hard enough a coolant line came apart and sprayed nice new coolant all over the ecu and everything electric in the car, also from my eye could be frame damage look at the hood.

Damn, how did you hit a pothole so hard?

Might be worth talking to the city if poorly maintained roads caused this to happen they may be liable for the damage. Paging Lehto!

Yeah on the on ramp ( so getting up to highway speeds) is a little mountain of asphalt followed by a pothole. So the v70R was in advance mode, so no suspension give. Felt like a gun went off next to me, I have no idea how the tire is sill intact

Eh, head gasket( I shorted the cooling fan by mistake) was my fault this one is on DC, take my experience with a grain of salt maybe

I didn’t know we had a V70R here on oppo. I am thinking of getting one, but would like to know about the ownership experience.

This aside, what can you tell me about running costs?

Eh pretty painless first year of ownership. this year yeah,... Not so much.

22mpg low insurance cause wagon and old, love it hope this month was just a bad month

So now that you’ve potholed your turbobrick, I imagine you’ll have to replace a strut... and more... are you going to do the work yourself? If so, what do you think the strut will cost?

I’ve heard that the struts are a high dollar item and that the angle gear is problematic. Haven’t heard much else about the V70Rs aside from the fact that they’re comfortable and finnicky. I looked at a few and some of the ones I’ve found were 150k+ in mileage. And that was scary.

This one had 132k when I bought it its at nearly 150 so maybe that’s when they are cursed to die.

But no like I said I just did the head gasket I can work any longer in my bug infested drive way while trying to take care of my 7 month old and sell/buy a house. So gieco has it, they can fix it

If you tackled a head gasket by yourself, I imagine you do most of your normal wrenching on your own. I bet that saves a substantial amount in mechanics costs.

I agree with the despite the bad of the V70R Volvo for life.

But I can't SUV it goes against my religion. I have driven only one, (an xc60 loaner) and I was impressed by comfort, not so much everything else.

I would go after the town for that one. Maybe include a letter from a friendly local law office along with your claim. Roadway conditions are their responsibility.

Yep, sadly Gieco’s rep can figure out what cause the ecu to go bad so now I'm having to get Volvo of Annapolis to look at it (like I was gonna do in the first place) to see if they can figure out it was caused by coolant basically draining into the ecu. Should be fun next couple days
